Is it true that you retain more information from writing out your notes than typing them?
My history teacher told me that, while my aunt told me it was a complete lie. Can someone tell me the real answer and with a link to a credible study?

I think so because it takes longer to write than type so you are paying more attention to the things you’re writing about. But if you don’t like reading handwriting to study (I don’t!) just write the notes and type them later. This REALLY helps me and I always get good grades when I do that (also, print out the page and study that!)
It also helps to make certain things that are alike in the same colors or font because you have to sort out your facts and color organize them which makes you think about them.

Writing things down does help them commit to memory a bit better; that’s always been my personal experience. Tell your aunt it can’t be “a complete lie” because we all learn differently and our brains all work differently. This is the case for most people, but maybe not all.

Umm
i dont know about the link
but it is true
look
if you write,
the handwriting helps you understand it more
you learn while your writing because you are correcting it and stuff
if u go on a comp then it will do everything for you and you dont get the same quality

Writing is going to help you remember. And if I were you I’d listen to the teacher over my aunt.

Yes and also being a psychology major it helps to write your notes for an essay in grey led.
