Is everyone a pronoun?

I have to write an essay without using first or second personal pronouns. I was wondering if the word everyone is a first or second personal pronoun and if it’s not what is it? I asked a a family member and they said it was third person, but i still dont know. Thanks for your help.

The way to tell which person is:

1st person or the self (I, me, we),

2nd person or the person spoken to (you),

3rd person or the person spoken about (he, she, him, her, they, them).

I agree – third person (everyone substitutes for they).

“Everyone” is an indefinite pronoun. The indefinite pronouns (everybody/anybody/somebody/all/each/every/some/none/one) do not substitute for specific nouns but function themselves as nouns. Check out http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/pronouns1.htm

“Everyone” is what we call an “indefinite pronoun.” This means it doesn’t refer to any particular person or group, but to all members. For example, when we say, “everyone” does it,” we’re being very indefinite about who(m) “everyone” may be.
