I need to solve for x: Equation is X – (10% of X) = 1828?

Am I out of my mind or is this something that can be done this way?

The way to think about it is, X is the same as 100% of X. So X – (10% of X) would give you 90% of X.

Knowing this we can say 90% of X = 1828.

Then we find what 1% of X is. 1828/90=20.3111…

And then multiply this answer by 100, giving you an answer of 2031.
