Polynomial fractions?

Reduce the fraction to lowest terms…thank you so much. Steps would be greatly appreciated.

1. x^2-1 / 5x-5

2.16-a^2 / 2a-8

3.x^2+7x+12 / x^2-16

4. x^2-25 / x^2-2x-15

5. r^2-4r-5 / r^2-2r-15

(First polynomial is numerator ; second is denominator.)

Thankssss so much and please post steps! I really want to understand this.

1. (x+1)(x-1)/5(x-1) = (x+1)/5

2. (a+4)(4-a)/-2(4-a) = (a+4)/-2

3. (x+3)(x+4)/(x-4)(x+4) = (x+3)/(x-4)

4. (x+5)(x-5)/(x+3)(x-5) = (x+5)/(x+3)

5. (r-5)(r+1)/(r-5)(r+3) = (r+1)/(r+3)

I hope this notation makes sense, it’s just long division. Hopefully you can follow along. The dots are just so stuff lines up

1)

……….1/5x + 1/5

5x-5 | x^2 + 0x -1

……….x^2 – x

…………………x -1

…………………x – 1
