i need help on how to solve it.
Favorite Answer
1. Get the X’s on the left side by subtracting 3x from 4x.
Now the equation is X+1=-5
2. Now get the numbers on the right side by subtracting the 1 from the -5
Now the equation is X=-6
X=-6
4x + 1 = 3x – 5 , becomes 4x – 3x = – 5 – 1
3x becomes negative when you move it to the other side of the equation, so does 1. then subtract: 4x – 3x becomes x. because 5 and 1 are both negative, you add them and keep the negative sign.
x = – 6
hope this helps, good luck =>
4x+1=3x-5
4x-3x= -5-1
x= -6
4x= 3x + negative 6
4x+negative 3x = negative 6
1x=negative 6
x = -6
4x = 3x – 6
x = -6
4(x)+1=3(x)+-5
you can take 3x away from each side because you can do the same thing to each side and it is still equal so you have:
x+1=-5
then-5 plus one equals -4 so:
x=-4
