First guess two numbers that multiply to be 12u^2 (the first number), and two others that multiply to be -7 (the last number) . Then write down and check the outer plus the inner to see if it adds up to -8
Guess: (4u + 7)(3u – 1)
outer: -4u
inner: 21u
21u – 4u is not -8u, make another guess
(6u – 7)(2u + 1)
outer: 6u
inner -14u
That does add up to -8u so there you are.
