Humanties homework question?

I don’t need the exact answer but a few helpful notes to get me going. I’ve been stuck on this question for a week now!

“Early Chinese society has been described as being uniquely secular. Is this fair assessment? Why or why not? Explain your answer by comparing the importance of religion in China to its importance in other early societies”

I would review the following sites for information of the importance of religion and variety of religious beliefs in China.

http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/china/religion/index.htm

http://blue.butler.edu/~jfmcgrat/china/religion1.htm

http://www.discoverychannel.co.uk/ancient_china/religion/taoism/index.shtml

It may be good to look at the philosophical differences between the Chinese relgions (non-prostelitizing) and European relgions which are prostelitizing. This may give way to the belief that early Chinese are secular.
