Hello! Me too, fellow sinister!

(A sinister is a left-handed person!)

I was switched in kindergarten and first grade, but kept up with my left hand when no one was looking. Now I’m ambidextrous (and, unfortunately, somewhat dyslexic as well)! Truthfully, there is only one way to do this, and that’s practice, practice, practice! You will find it easier to work on this if you have access to a chalkboard or white board, because using those, you will not have to use as fine of motor skills as if you are writing on paper. Haven’t you noticed it’s easier to write on the chalkboard?:) After you have mastered the art using the chalkboard, begin with pencil and paper designed for K-G — you know, the big pencils and the really big lined tablets. Work some basic handwriting exercises. When you get good enough, then you should be able to write with your right hand fairly well. Unfortunately, you will probably turn some of your letters about or switch them back and forth, but that is the curse we converted lefty’s bear!LOL

One thing to hearten you — it’s easier for left handed people to learn to use their right hand than the other way around! We live in a right handed world, so it’s something we do (albeit unconsciously) on a daily basis!

Good luck, have fun. And, when you’re really good, learn two-handed, simultaneous mirror writing and impress your friends!

No it is not impossible….it just takes practice and practice and more practice. As you learned to write with your left hand you will over time learn to write with your right hand.

Practice not only writing but doing other things as well…..using your right hand on a computer mouse for example…when using a fork…use your right hand instead of your left.

Once your brain gets the message then it will start working for you and the performance of your right hand will get better over time.
