learn the natural skill of arguing

never site philosophy or ethics unless your sure its non-debatable

always remember, something acceptable to one society may not be to another

always apply logic (common sense)

pry on your enemy’s weakness like: math or lack of foresight

do not concentrate on too much details rather focus on end results

It really, really depends on the format you guys use, if any. Serious debate circles have a format; mine uses parliamentary. you need to know the format because no matter how well your case is put, if it goes against the format of the debate, the other side can take you out without the judge even having to look at the case.

The best way to debate is to listen, read up on the subject, both sides, and then find logical reasons, not based alone on how you feel about the subject. Find good points, facts, on your side and also ones against the reasoning for the other side.

Also, avoid attacking the person for their stance on the issue, stick to the issue.
