Probably a couple of hours. Time to write it out first….I would write it in points so you can remember it easily. Then practice it point by point…how you will say it.

You can also use a “gimic” which will help you to remember….here is how….

I taught a seminar once and used a gift box full of items. Pulling out an item at a time, I used them as part of my talk.

You could do the same thing. Each “item” will remind you of the next point…an easy way to remember your talk, and also interesting to your audience.

If you do something like that that makes them curious, you have their attention. Try it, it works…and is the easy way to present your talk. Five minutes is very little time….maybe five items…talk for a minute each.

It depends on how complex the material is, and what you intend to discuss. If you have one day to do it, I suggest that you use as much of that time as possible. I would think that it will take you at least an hour to research it and write it, 2 hours to polish and practice it, and another hour to finalize it and make sure that it is what you want. Those are minimums….

Word of advice from a former professional procrastinator…don’t wait until the last minute.

Depends on the subject & how enthusiastic you are about it, but maybe two hours should be plenty…..Folks can hear a long & sometimes complicated “Joke” only once, & yet they can relate every detail perfectly —-Days later !
