FOIL- first, outer, inner, last.

first…n x n= n^2

outer….n x 5= 5n

inner…..n x 7= 7n

last……7 x 5= 35

so the answer is n^2 + 5n + 7n+ 35 = n^2 + 12n + 35

(n+7)(n+5)

use what is called “foil”

n it the first one we start with:

Take n x n = n^2 ( That’s supposed to be n squared)

Take n x 5 = 5n

Then do second part:: 7x n= 7n

7 x 5= 35

Put it all together:

n^2 + 5n + 7n + 35

foil.

first.outside.inside.last.

multiply the first numbers in parentheses.

this would be n*n

Outside: then do the outside numbers

n*5

Inside:the ones that are next to each other, inside

7*n

Last: the last of the numbers in parentheses

7*5

multiply, add like things. and boom
