Most of the other answers will do, but you probably want to write it as

f(x) = x + 6

Remember, in functions f(x) = y

-x + y = 6

move the x to the right side

-x + y + x = 6 + x

cancel out the exes

y = 6 + x

and if y = f(x)

f(x) = 6 + x

6- x=y, or 6-y=x.
