For example, how would I do this problem:
Write an equation for the line that meets the given conditions.
1. A line with slope 3.5 and y intercept (0,4)

This should look familar to you
y=Mx+b
M is the slope (rise/run)
b is the y intercept
there is also the point slope formula
for when you are given points
in space and are asked for an eqn
y(1)-y(0)=M(x(1)-x(0))
1 is end point
0 is start point
if problem says you start at
(1,2) and you end at (x,y)
and you have a slope of 2
what is the eqn of the line
y(0)=2, y(1)=y
x(0)=1, x(1)=x
M=2 then substitute these
(y-2)=2(x-1)
(y-2)=2x-2 distributing M
y=2x adding 2 to each side
