1) You can’t solve this, as it is only an expression. Now if you meant 4(y-3) + 9 – 3y = 0, then you can solve it.

2) Assuming the above correction, combine the like terms, then isolate the unknown.

Let’s say you have a(x-b) + c – dx = 0. Now use this to solve the equation.

Combine terms: ax – ab + c – dx = 0

(a-d)x – ab + c = 0

(a-d)x = ab – c

x = (ab – c) / (a – d)

Now use what I’ve shown you to solve the equation.

If you aren’t willing to do that, you need serious help.

4(y-3)+9-3y = 0

open the brackets first.

=> 4y – 12 + 9 – 3y = 0

=> 4y – 3y -12 + 9 = 0

=> y – 3 = 0

=> y = 3.

Well, first of all, there is no equals sign, so there really isnt a solution, per say, as much as you are just simplifying.

4 ( y – 3) + 9 – 3y

4y – 12 + 9 – 3y <------ distribute y - 3 <----------- combine like terms

Brackets first.

4(y-3) becomes 4y-12

So now we have 4y-12 +9 -3y

Do the y’s next.

4y minus 3y is y.

now we have -12 + 9 +y

-12 plus 9 is minus 3

So i suppose we end up with y-3

is there a value of the iteger y? if so u do the problem in the parentheses then multiply by 4 plus 9 minus 3 multiplied by y.

simple anymore questions just tell me.

=4y-12+9-3y

=4y-3y-12+9

=y-12+9

=y-3
