Problem solving?

Q.1

Last week, Maria worked 1.75 hours on Monday, 2.5 hours on wednesday, and 4 hours on friday . how many hours did she work last week?

I know this is an easy question but i can’t use a calculator because i have to show my work. i don’t know how to line up my number so please show me how i have to do this, lining up decimals confuses me !!

start with counting the last number of each line (so 5+0+0=5) then 7+5+0=12 write the 2 remember the 1. Than 1(the one you had to remember)+1+2+4=8.
