How do i find the slope and y intercept of this problem?
Favorite Answer
4y – 4 = -3x – 11
add 4 to both
4y = -3x -7
divide by 4
y = -3/4x – 7/4
so, m = -3/4
b = -7/4
Your goal in solving this problem is to get everything to equal y.
4y-3=3x-11(Add three to both sides)
4y=3x-11+3(Then divide each part by 4 to get y by itself)
This will give you y=3/4x-2.
3/4 is your slope, and -2 is your y-intercept
4y= 3x-8
y = 3/4x – 2
2. The number infront of the x is the slope, as it is the relation between the change in x as the line continues and the change in y. The other number (- 2) is the y intercept, because when you say x=0 (the y-axis line), y= -2.
y= -3/4x – 2
This is slope intercept form for the problem.
y= mx + b
m= slope
b= y intercept
Therfore, slope would be -3/4 and the y intercept would be -2.
y=[-3x-9]/4
y=[3 x 0-9] / 4
y=-9/4
4y=3x-8
y=3/4x-2
slope = 3/4, y-intercept= -2
