How would I go about calculating the population density of Pennslyvania and expressing it in people per square mile?

You can usually go straight to the state website and get your statistics. However, if you have to calculate it for homework, you will need to go to the state website, get current population, and then calculate it. Get your square miles…population…and divide population by miles.

First determine the entire population. Then find how many square miles are in the state. Then simply divide the entire population by the total square miles which will give you the average of people per square mile.
