The problem here is that you need to answer this for yourself, because the answer will be different for everyone.
For me, answer number one is the golden rule, and that helps me to remember how I should treat others.
For me, answer number two happened when my friend thought she could not remember vocabulary words on a test and so she kept telling herself that when she studied, and sure enough, all she could remember on the test was that she can’t remember vocabulary.
