Please give us more of the problem. There is no equal sign in the problem. Write down the words that explain what the problem is trying to solve.

From what you have above, $1.50 + 40/20 can be reduced to $1.50 + 2; I don’t know how to take the answer any farther.

I would resubmit your problem as if you edit this, most people will not find it to answer it.

well, if 20 CENTS is the rate per minute… then the answer would be $9.50, according to your given problem.
