A SOURCE on a research paper is the place you get your information used in the paper. URLs would be fine if a computer search is the only place you looked. Just make sure you have the COMPLETE URL–including any %, underscores, etc. These can be VERY long sometimes, however.

For books: do it like this example:

Last name, first name (author). Book Title (underlined). City, State: Publisher, year published. (For footnotes, you would add page numbers, too, and put author’s name in regular order). To show how I mean– Doe, John. My Book in Ten Chapters (underlined). Chicago, IL:Penguin Publishers, 2007. PUT IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER BY AUTHOR’S LAST NAME.

For magazine articles, it is similar to above, except the article title in put in quotes, and the magazine name is underlined.

You’re more right than you think you are –

Two or more DIFFERENT sources (where you got your information) is what the teacher wants. So URL’s are good, but you’d ALSO need some other kind- like you said…books, articles, interviews, etc.

Here’s a page that deacribes HOW to write the bibliography based on what sources you used (in case you need it)

it is best if you used about 2 websites – make sure u are specific and google and yahoo don’t count

you should use about 2 book – site the chapter and page title and author

title and author should be in italic and for the websites cite the date you recived this info
