Help me, PLEASE read this question….?

How is “To Kill a Mockingbird” still significant to todays society? I’ve thought and thought, and all I could come up with is that racism still exists today, although it is not as much as it was back then. Please help, anything else would be much appreciated.

Perhaps you could compare it to modern Trials. How we still try people in the “court of public opinion” more often than we try them fairly with out bias.

I think that you are thinking too hard. In order to determine how a novel is still significant in contemporary society, you must look at the characters of the novels actions.

What I would look at is Atticus. Even though he had seen the evil many human beings have with in them through his law career, he still looks at the good in everyone. He realizes everyone has a good and a bad side. This is a moral lesson to the world because our world is currently in mass conflict. We must look at the good in everyone and work towards peace and equality.

no there is a deeper meaning than that- the way that the children were so eager to help- their father was so eager to be fair and to treat justly- its the same in todays world- everyone wants justice
