To round the number to the second decimal place, or the “hundredths”, you have to look at the value of the THIRD decimal place, or the “thousandths”:

-19.875

If the number in the third decimal place is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, just chop that number off and forget about it.

However, if the number in the third decimal place is 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, not only do you need to chop off the number, but you need to round up the previous number from “7” to “8”:

-19.88

The second decimal place is the hundreths. So to round that number you would look to the right of the 7. If the number to the right is 5 or greater you round up, if not then the number stays the same. So the answer would be -19.88. Hope this helps = )

the second decimal place, the hundredth, is two after the decimal. since the next digit is five, you would round up and your number would be -19.88

to round to the seccond decimal place you look at the third decimal place and if it is 5 or larger you make it a 0 and add one to the seccond decimal place. so in your case it would be 19.88

hope i helped 🙂

19.88. Round up if the number after it is 5 and up, or down if its 4 or under.

what I personally do is either look at the 4th decimal or if there isn’t one than half the time i round up and half the time I round down.
