The autonomic nervous system controls the INVOLUNTARY bodily functions such as breathing, opening and closing the pupils of the eye, etc.

The pituitary gland is a small endocrine gland which regulates body processes like growth, reproduction, and metabolic activity.

the pituitary gland is a small oval shaped organ that is attached to the the brain. It consists of an epithelial anterior lobe joined by an intermediate part to a posterior lobe of nervous origin, and produces various internal secretions directly or indirectly impinging on most basic body functions. The autonomic nervous system is a part of the vertebrate nervous system that innervates smooth and cardiac muscle and glandular tissues and governs involuntary actions. Hope that helps!
