You use distributive property…

-2 times 4x = | -8x + 2 | + 16

-2 times -1

Then you use associative to group them differently..

| -8x | + 18 <--- answer i dunno how to put on graph srry good luck 🙂

Remember that an absolute value says that particular item can never be negative. The whole equation can go to the negatives but not the part in the brackets. Therfore you solve 4x-1>= zero. at 1/4 it equals zero.

The best graphing method in this is to find the value for which the thing pivots. That would be where the absolute value = zero. In this case 1/4.

The graph the equation where x=1/4 You should get y=16 (1/4,16).

Then pick values for x<1/4, pick a couple of them and graph it. Then pick some >1/4, a couple of them. Graph all those points. Then you will have a pointy kind of graph with the vertex being at (1/4,16)

The absolute value means that everything within the brackets | and | has a positive number and a negative number. So you need to solve it and graph it both ways.

First graph the function, the something it somewhat is below the x-axis (y=0) desires to be pondered returned to the effective edge of the axis. Ex. while graphing f(x)=y=x, draw the line and then reflect the section left of the commencing place up above the x-axis. further with y=x^3, and so on.

well it’d be -2 times the absolute value of 4x-1 plus 16..then u’d put the answer on a number line…

Exaple if the answer was 5 then u’d put a 5 on the number line 5 spots away from the 0

<------------0----5---------->

hope this helps!!
