First you have to have equal denominators. (bottom of fractions)

So the least common denominator should be 12.

your equation after converting is then 2 5/12 + 6 2/12.

now theres two ways from here.

1. Simply add and get 8 7/12

2. Or convert everything to twelfths by multiplying both your 2 and 6 by 12 and then adding the 5 and 6 getting to fractions. then add. 29/12 + 74/12

103/12 or 8 7/12

First, you would have to add the whole numbers, 2 and 6, that leaves us with the whole number 8. Okay, the you have 5/12 and 1/6, the fractions. You need the same denominators, so first get the least common multiple, 12. 5/12 already has the denominator if 12, so leave it. Now you have to make 1/6 as a denominator of 12. On the bottom, it’s six. Since 6 times two equals 12, multiply 2 with the numerator too, so that leaves us with 2/12. Now add 5/12 with 2/12. That is 7/12. Don’t forget the whole number eight. So the answer is 8 and 7/12. Hope hat helped

okay sweetness.. this is what u do… you try to find a “common Denominator” which you do this..

5/12 X 6/6= 30/72

1/6 X 12/12= 12/72

72 is the common denominator.. so now you can solve for it!

2 30/70 + 6 12/72= 8 42/ 72

Your not done yet.. because you can simplify the fraction.. think like this.. what can 42/72 break down two or what can evenly divide the fraction into a smaller number…

obviously the highest number possible to break 42/72 is 6..

so divide 42/72 by 6/6 which = to 7/12..

so the answer is 8 7/12…

if you need more math help.. you can contact me through this email [email protected].. if you want to.. i hope it helped you!

the whole numbers would give you 8

now the fractions

1/6 is equal to 2/12(i simply multiplied both by 2 so we can get the same denominator as the first fraction. now that we have the same denominator we can start adding

2/12 + 5/12 = 7/12

therefore the answer is 8 7/12

2 5/12 is the same as 12/12+12/12+5/12 or 29/12

6 1/6 is the same as 12/12+12/12+12/12+12/12+12/12+12/12+2/12 or 74/12

so 29/12 plus 74/12 is 109/12or 8 7/12
