lim x->infinity (3x^2 + 2x + 1) / (x^2 + 5x – 3)?

Just worry about the x^2 parts. As x approaches infinity, the other terms take on smaller and smaller proportions until they become insignificant (compared to the x^2 part). With just the x^2 parts, you’ve got:

3x^2

——-

x^2

…which is equal to 3. So that’s your limit. Simple, right?
