Do you think people who ask homework questions on Y/A really need help?

…or are they just too g-damned lazy to figure out the answers for themselves and want someone to do it for them? And if you believe its because they’re lazy, do you think answering the questions for them will only perpetuate the problem and encourage them to do it more? Has Y/A become a vehicle for kids to cheat by having other people do their homework for them?

It’s really hard to tell and we are really drawing a very fine line between kids trying to cheat and kids who really need help. The reason I think Y!A set up this section is for kids who really need help and I think that if we can help, we should help them, regardless of what situation they are in.

This is because we ourselves don’t know what is their background and if we are really helping them to cheat, then ultimately, they will be suffering because they will not understand a thing for the knowledge will not be passed down to them through the Y!A.

In the end, they will just repeat the year and learn it through the hard way.

As for kids who really need the help, then Y!A will be a good channel to help them. Maybe they are not old enough to understand how to google and search for answers, or probably they know, but don’t know how to refine their search, thus they can’t find what they need and use Y!A as their last resort.

Maybe some kids can’t afford to engage a long term tutor or spend long hours in school doing research due to family constrains, whatever the reason, some might really have genuine reason, so we should just help them tide through and let them sort out their other problems themself.

If we were to not answer any of their questions, then what is going to happen to those kids who really need help but can’t get it?

I think there are several answers to this question.

Some kids are just lazy & don’t want to figure out their work.

Some kids have emergencies & just need a little “boost” to pass a class.

Some kids are cheaters.

Some kids just need ideas, & then they can do all the work, themselves.

My rationale for being a Top Contributor to Homework Help is this:

I raised four kids, with all different levels of motivation & ability to do their homework independently.

I helped some more than others.

I am REALLY GOOD at thinking of creative ideas, for things like science fair projects, essays, and ways to help out in the community for senior projects.

If my kids asked me for ideas, I’d give them the same ideas.

I can’t judge if these kids are latchkey kids, ignored by their parents, getting no help at home, or unable to stay after school to use the library due to transportation problems.

If I help on some homework & they don’t do the rest of the work, they’ll still get bad grades in their classes.

It’s like that Marine saying (adapted):

“I’ll help ’em with their homework, and let the teachers sort out the cheaters & the kids who don’t know the material well enough to pass the class!”

nicely i think of it particularly is totally okay to ask homework appropriate questions right here. now and lower back it particularly is the only place you are able to choose for speedy help, and there are a lot of folk right here with a good number of know-how and components to help, so i think of it particularly is great to be asking homework questions. it ought to consistently help greater advantageous than one individual! human beings should not be getting uptight approximately any question, merely they might desire to easily pass away it on my own in the event that they are no longer happy with the question. provided that the question is extremely vulgar ought to every physique get disenchanted, yet a homework question, in accordance to me is very alright, and that i think of every physique who desires to help answer ought to, and every physique who’s “against” it would merely shop on shifting.

I would’nt presume whether they are G-DAMMED LAZY or anything else. I plainly and simply interpret their questions as it is written asking for help-no more no less. And I simply give my honest answers to the best of what I know.

well you yourself has to be the judge of that, if they really need help or not… if you look at their questions and all they ask for is the answers all the time then people shouldnt answer it…. but you cant change people and i know some people do, do that…. so in a way yes and another way no

60% lazy

40% need help

75% of questions could be answered by googling

so they’re either too lazy to google or too ignorant to be able to do so

Who knows for sure if the answers they get are right or not? Good teachers ask students to show their work or explain how they came to get their answers.

I know mine did and if they don’t then the teachers are as much to blame as the students.

I think most of them are too ignorant to find other forms of help. Half of what they ask can be found in a few wikipedia articles.
