Distributing properties…?

I need help with 2 distributive property problems, I really don’t get how to do it, can someone tell me the steps on how to solve each answer?

1. 3x(x+2)+5x(2x+6)

2. 3-2(x+3)+4(x+2)+x

in the first one you have 3x(x+2) you would distribute the 3x to both the x and the 2 (3x*x)+(3x*2) (the *is multiply) you would get 3x^2+6x, you would do the same thing for each, remember the order of opperations though

PEMDAS is an acronym that helps me sometimes.

P – Parenthysis

E – Exponent

M – Multiply

D – Division

A – Addition

S – Subtraction

For your first problem, multiply 3x by (x + 2) Then multiply 5x by (2x+6) and then add your two results

For the second problem, multiply (x+3) by 2 and then multiply (x+2) by 4. Then start with 3 minus your answer for 2(x=3) plus your answer for 4(x=2) and add x

Good luck.

1. you must multiply 3x by both in the parenthesis….and then 5x

(3x^2+6x) + (10x^2+30x)
