Because the angles are made of two lines that intersect, then angles 2 and 3 are also supplementary. Therefore, y + 75 = 180
so we have two equations:
3x + y = 180
y + 75 = 180
from the second equation: y = 180 – 75 = 105
if you want to find x:
substitute into the first equation: 3x + 105 = 180
3x = 180 – 105
3x = 75
x = 25
To find y, angle 1 + angle 2 =180 (supplementary)
75 + y= 180
y=105
Ang.3 = Ang.1
Ang.3 = 75
75 = Ang.1
If angles 1 and 2 are supplementary, then they must add up to 180 degrees.
Ang.1 + Ang.2 = 180
75 + Ang.2 = 180
Ang.2 = 105 degrees
ANSWER:
y = 105

Knowing this, it’s also easy to find the x value you have up there. Since you know that Ang.1 = 3x and that Ang.1 = 75 degrees, you know that 3x = 75.
3x = 75
x = 25
ANSWER:
x = 25
