Chemistry Help!!!?

I’m trying to help my little sister with her homework and I’m looking my age. Please help me understand how to answer this so I can explain it to her!?!?

The density of lead metal is 11.35g/cm^3. If 12.49g of lead metal is added to a 10-ml graduated cylinder containing 5.72 ml of water, what will be the final volume reading of the water in the cylinder?

12.94 /11.35 = 1.140cm ^3 =

now 1 ml = 1cm ^3..so 5.72 ml = 5.72 cm^3

the final V = 1.140+ 5.72 = 6.860 cm^3

Notice the size of the container ( 10-ml ) is just a reference and we do not need it to solve that problem . .
