Was your assignment to compare/contrast the two? Did you read the book and watch the movie? Or is it that you were supposed to read the book, but opted for the movie instead?
The newer version of the movie that was done in the 90s (or was that the late 80s?) is more true to the book, but still doesn’t capture the satire, nor all of the gory details. As is true with almost any movie version of a book — the movie edits a lot out.

There are several versions of the movie. But from what I remember:
The movie was more of a kids story, or family film and the book was meant to be a political satire.

this is totally similar becasue the author, Louis Sachar, helped direct it, and informed the manufacturers how he needed it. right here’s one vast difference: interior the e book, stanley is fat, yet interior the movie, he’s skinny. 🙂
