Massachusetts was mostly English Puritans (now Congregationalists). They were only tolerant of other Puritans and hung other christians. Relations with Indians were mixed.

New York was founded by the Dutch (New Amsterdam before the English took it over) Still a lot of Dutch influence.

Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn who was a Quaker and founded Philadelphia as a place where all Christians could live without persecution. He paid the Indians for land, so relations were good. Many Germans settled in this area.

Deleware was much like Pennsylvania

At the time of the revolution, the Americans were 80 to 90% English descent.
