Well, lets take chemists and mechanical engineers in example. In order to engineer machines that properly function in their environments, mechanical engineers must take into account how the machine will be used and on what materials. For instance, if a mechanical engineer is designing a machine that will process recycled plastics he must take into account the chemical makeup of those plastics so he builds an oven that operates at the right temperature in order to melt the plastics but not set them on fire.
