Do you understand what it means when something is raised to a power?

3 to the 8th power means: 3 times 3 times 3 times 3 times 3 time 3 times 3 time 3 (notice 3 is multipied by itself 8 times). I don’t have a calculator on me but, it turns out to be a huge number.

The other 3 numbers (for B,C, and D) are even bigger!

I believe the answer you are looking for is: 3 to the 2nd power or 3 times 3 which is 9.

None of the above. Are you sure those are the only choices? Is there an E. None of the above? I’m wondering if it’s a trick question in the way they say “longer than” vs. “length of”.

a = track A = 3 yd

b = track B (3 times length of Track A)

b = 3 * a = 3 * 3 = 9

Or, b is 3 to the 2nd power or 3 squared.

cB is 9 yards (3*3 yards).

A 3^8=3*3*3*3*3*3*3*3= 6,561

b,c,d: the same. You’ve got to string them out if you don’t have a calculator/excel program. Good luck.
