They both pursued the 3 G’s (God, Glory and Gold) when leaving their homelands

The English in New England were the Puritans, they left England and moved to the New World on a land grant from the king to escape religious persecution. They were generally peaceful.

The Spanish began coming to the New World back when Christopher Columbus came looking for a shorter route to India. Upon arriving in the Carribbean he discovered a vast amount of economic success and the Spanish set up shop there and in Florida. They also took a mercenary stance on dealing with the natives.

All colonists got here to the brand new international for riches, land, vigor, assets, glory, status, and such. They all desired to ultimately triumph over the New World. The change was once how each and every handled the indigenous peoples they encountered. In the ones occasions the church and state had been one and the identical. The Catholic Spanish and French considered those persons as low cost hard work and skills individuals of the church. Therefore although they nonetheless dealt with them badly, they wanted them alive for those. The protestant English considered those persons as subhuman and performed exterminations which the US persisted till the past due nineteenth century. This is why there are nonetheless huge local populations in the ones places as soon as colonized via France and Spain (no person burnt up the Mayas or Aztecs, there are nonetheless enormous quantities alive in these days), and really small populations of natives in the ones places as soon as managed via England. Also, Mexico City was once developed over the Aztec capitol, now not the Maya.
