About diatonic and chromatic notes?

No. Each of the diatonic scales has six whole tone intervals and two semitone intervals. The omitted notes will therefore have whole tone or one and a half tone intervals. If the diatonic scale is pleasing to the ear, so will be the notes left out. If you can’t grasp that concept in words, just look at where the black notes come on a piano.
