Nothing is the answer. “The poor have nothing:” they do not have anything. “The rich need nothing:” they already have everything, why want more? “The devil loves nothing:” well, he doesn’t. “Jesus hates nothing:” that is true. Jesus may as well be the kindest man history has ever know, and that means that he hates nothing. “If you eat nothing you will die:” if you don’t eat, you pop off the perch. “If you don’t eat nothing you will gain some weight:” if you do not NOT eat nothing, i.e. eat something, well you will gain weight. Lucky you if you don’t.
