Algebra II homework help, just one problem!?

Blahblah is doing a scientific study of graffiti in the downstairs boy’s room. On the first day of school, there is no graffiti. ON the second day, there are two drawings. On the third day, there are 4 drawings. He forgets to check on the fourth day, but on the fifth day, there are eight drawings. Let d represent the day, and g represent the number of graffiti marks that day.

Ok that is the background…. Now this is the part I don’t understand.

“write a function g (d) that gives the number of graffiti marks as a function of the day.”

how do I make this a function… I know the pattern, add 2 every day, I just don’t know how to express this algebraically….* sorry about that spelling.!!

thanks for help in advance.

So the pattern is

Day 1: Graffiti = 0

Day 2: Graffiti = 2

Day 3: Graffiti = 4 or 2*2

Day 4: Graffiti = 6 or 3*2

Day 5: Graffiti = 8 or 4*2

So the function g (d) = (d – 1) * 2
