The answer is B. “Evangeline” describes how the French-speaking natives of Acadia (now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick) were deported from their homes after the British conquered that portion of New France. The modern Cajuns of Louisiana are descended from the Acadians.
Evangeline is separated from Gabriel, the man she loves. At one point, she has a dream that he is near, and in fact he is. Evangeline is finally reunited with Gabriel just as he lies dying.
