8th grade algebra 1 help????? Need an equation that expresses this.?

One cell phone plan costs $39.95 per month. The first 500 minutes are free. Each minute thereafter costs $.35. For a bll of $69.70, how many minutes over 500 minutes was the cell phone in use?

Please I need an algebraic expression(involving a variable) no simplifying plz!

.35m+39.95

“m” represents minutes.

If the 500 minutes are free…they wont be accounted for in the equation. The line denotes dividing the top equation by .35

(bill) 69.70 – (plan) 39.95 = 29.75(extha)

(minute thereafter) = .35 so

29.75 / .35 = 85

so 85 minutes were used over 500

b – p = e

m = .35

e/.35 = minutes used

The bill is the cost of the monthly rental plus the call charges

$39.95 + call charges = $69.70

You can now work out the call charges.

Divide the call charges by $0.35 to find the number of minutes.

well if the plans monthly is 39.95 then the cost for minutes would be the total minus the monthly. divide that by 30 cents adn you will get the number of minutes over five hundred.

As an additional if you add it to the 500 you will get the total number of minutes spent on the phone.

Try to use what I have written to create the equation.

this question is not complete. if the 500 minutes are free, why r you paying 39.95 after if it cost thereafter .35?

then just solve for X

39.95 + 0.35x=69.70

0.35x=29.75

x=85

585 minutes
