6x+4y= -12 8x-14y= -16?
i need to know step by step how to do it not just the answers..
i want to learn this..

1. Firstly, you need solve one of the equation for one of the variables. So:
6x +4y = -12 solving for y it becomes
4y = -6x – 12, then
y = 1/4 (-6x – 12) or y = – 3/2 x – 3
Now, we must then insert y = – 3/2 x – 3 into the other equation
8x -14y = -16 becomes
8x -14 (- 3/2 x – 3) = -16 or multiplying the bracket by -14 gives:
21x + 42 +8x = -16, or adding 21x and 8x gives
29x + 42 = -16, then subtracting 42 from both sides gives
29x = -58 which simplifies to
x = -2.
Now substitute x = -2 into y = – 3/2 x – 3 to get
y = (-3/2) (-2) – 3, or
y = 3 – 3 or y = 0
So your answers are x = -2 and y = 0
Sorry it’s so long, hope this helps 🙂
8x-14y=-16} 8x-14y=-16 } 8x-14y=-16 }8(2-2/3y)-14y=-16 }
x=2-2/3y } x=2-2/3y } x=2-2/3y } x=2+2*96
16-16/3y-14y=-16 |3*} 48-16y-42y=-48 } -58y=48+48} y=-96/58
x=2+2*96/3*58 } x= 2+192/174 } x=2+96/87 } x=270/87
y=-96/58 } y=-48/29 } y=-48/29 }y=-48/29
*this means multiply everything by 3 so that 16/3 becomes 16
I wrote as simply as i could so you can understand it. The method is right, i don’t know if i missed something in a multiplication.
6x+4y=-12
6(0)+4y=-12
0+4y=-12
0-0+4y=-12-0
4y=-12
y=-3
6x+4(-3)=-12
6x-12=-12
6x=12-12=12-12
6x=0
x=0
y=-3 and x=0…
6(0)+4(-3)=-12
0-12=-12
-12=-12
and do the same process for the other one
