2 page Great Gatsby Essay, I need help!!!!!!.?
I’m thinking about using the American Dream and something about how that relates to Gatsby, but i’m not sure how i’d approach it so that i’d have enough for two pages. If anyone has another good topic on the Great Gatsby, please feel free to mention it. Thanks!

The american dream is about 2 things, that gatsby is all about:
1. “The Good Life” – being rich and successful
2. “Being Someone” – it’s important to set the trend, look good.
Gatsby was all about the image of success, the seeking of attention and respect, he made himself into the image of the Great Gatsby.
What about the books on the shelves, what book titles are on that shelf? what did eagle eyes say about the books when he looked? how does that relate to the dream, the image?
Does that help with your original topic?

That’s a great topic! You have the Buchanans and Gatsby both living the American Dream. Yet Gatsby, with his mansion and parties and expensive care and clothing, etc. somehow never really belongs to, is never accepted into, the world the Buchanans and Jordan inhabit. Why?

Why not approach it in terms of the American dream for women at the time. The American Dream is for everyone right? So why is it that Tom can do whatever he wants without respecting anyone’s pursuit of happiness, while Myrtle can’t have free speech (breaks her nose for saying Daisy) and Daisy can’t act like him (have another guy in her life)?
