Why do you hate it. Yu get into real school you have to do homework nights and weekends, which limits your skating.

You have to skate during PRIME TIME which means people on the ice. No one’s on the ice Monday at 10 am, but EVERYONE is there a 7 pm and on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s up to you if you want to travel to school, go from class to class, eat Cafeetaria food, be yelled at by the Girls VP, be given homework, cut frogs open in Biology, put up with the guys copping one as they pass by you, survive the punkers smoking in the girls rest room, ask for PERMISSION to go the rest room, have a hall pass, face DETENSION if you screw up

It’s up to you if you like INSTITUIONALISM

If done properly, a home school child should be at or above grade level, UNLESS you have some sort of learning issue that would prevent this. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like a priority to your mom, and from what you are saying, she ins’t really “teaching” you, but just telling you to “go do your stuff”. Sounds like you ahve fallen into a slump of laziness…this is NOT necessariy your fault since there is no accountability. Use your books or go on-line (surely your mom has provided you with this…my kids use IXL) and do the grade level math and language arts, and history assignments. If you are able to do them, your not behind, but if you can’t, show your mom. Tell you mom that you don’t ahve the skills to complete work on grade level and feel that you are really missing out. Tell her that you have done homeschooling for very long and you want a change and attend the public school when. Homeschooling can be great if done properly AND a studnet is thriving, but it jsut isn’t for everybody, so time for your mom to wake up. Strongly encourage her to look inot it and tell her that you have lost all motivation at home…your grades prove it. If she says no, ask her why. tell her you will promise to work hard at public school and will not complain about it (you must follow thru). good luck. EDIT: I’m and adult, public schooled. I learned everything I needed to succeed in college and have a successful career. My kids are also rec’ving and excellent public school education and are presented w/many more opportunies than I could ever offer them. SO, not all public schools are bad…the district makes a HUGE difference.

Glurpy and Earl D have given very good, sound advice 🙂

in answer to your question, i don’t hate homeschooling. in fact, i love it 😀 is your dream only to become a figure skater? are your parents supportive? sometimes you have to think ahead and have a back up plan IF you can’t become a figure skater, you know? i think you should focus on passing your subjects whether you want to or not so that in future you won’t regret. and as for having no time to figure skate and do schoolwork, it won’t be any better if you’re in public school. so please think twice and try to balance your lifestyle now–school (your future back-up) and current interests (figure skating).

You’re happy but you hate it? I’m very confused.

What about homeschooling do you not like? Have you even homeschooled yet? It sounds like you are only starting out. Don’t judge something before you’ve tried it!

I’ve only ever met one girl (about 13 years old) who hated homeschooling. She’d been homeschooling only a year and found it embarrassing. She was so focused on what other people thought of her and it was her own shortcomings that made homeschooling miserable for her, not homeschooling itself. Her siblings were very much enjoying themselves.

I hated it too. But that was when I was in a different program 2years ago. Since I transferred to a better program it’s better. I’d say it depends on the program, but I pity you some schools out there are f*ked up.

I don’t hate it, and I understand why people do it.

It’s when parents take the high horse and think that they are above public schools that bother me. I once answered a question here were a home-schooling mom was appaled at a recent graduation where there were 3-4 valedictorians.
