Secular Homeschooling Program in Oregon?

Does anyone know of a secular homeschooling coop or program in Oregon? My son is gifted and is very social, so some type of coop that meets weekly would be great. Also seeking recommendations for secular homeschooling curriculum. Thanks!

Definitely check out the yahoo groups. It might be worth it too to visit some of your local homeschooling groups even if they are Christian, to see if there is an under-the-radar type of group going on. I know in Oklahoma we created our own group that was inclusive because the Christian groups were so EXclusive (not very Jesus like if you ask me)

Anyway, out of Oregon is one of my favorite blogs try this

won’t be what you’re searching for for, yet i’m no longer prepared on classes that require a lot academic laptop & textbook-based paintings. rather the universal public college classes in view that is in basic terms as bland and proscribing and attempt-score focused because of fact the colleges are. we choose to take a extra hands-on, experiential attitude that could be a little extra eclectic. We purchase some laptop classes for examining and math, print some worksheets, use some textbooks and such for the fundamentals. the toddlers do self sufficient creative initiatives besides and become in touch with extra curricular issues like appearing arts, chess club, karate, etc. nearly all of our funds is going to instructions at co-ops, community centers, museums, gardens, nature preserves and different places that grant academic classes. while they hit 15/sixteen, in the journey that your state can provide it, make the main of twin enrollment instructions, too. unfastened community college instructions, they earn college credit. My daughter had 50 college credit below her belt by ability of the time she replaced into 18; all those college math and composition instructions helped her bang out a very super SAT score, too, which ended up assisting her win a scholarship to a sturdy college, shifting in as a junior. this facilitates no longer in basic terms for terribly a lot of flexibleness and social activities, yet a extra nicely-rounded and captivating coaching ordinary.

I know nothing about homeschooling, but I wanted you to have more options to pick from than that first answer. I did a little Googling, and this is what I came up with. I genuinely hope some of this helps. Wish I could be more helpful. 🙁

“Wow, the answer that got hidden is a real indictment of the whole idea of homeschooling in general.”

Malarkey.

The fact that some people can’t see anything beyond their own pinhole world-view has nothing to do with the validity of home education.

Why secular homeschooling. Homeschooling should be world free. It should be your child learning from you and the Lord. I’m home schooled. And I learn all my lessons from my family. We are a very christian family. God and Jesus are our lives. And that’s what the secular world has taken out of the schools today. That’s why children can shoot, stab, and rape one another. I’m 15 years old, an I am happy to be in Christian Homeschooling. Want to learn more e-mail me. G.B.
