History is big almost everywhere people have been coming to Florida vacationing since the 1800’s. The railroad was the invention that brought the most change and people. The wealthy used to have their own railroad cars and they would travel here for the winter with their whole “household” including servants etc. the largest wooden structure still standing in the world is the Belleview Biltmore a hotel in Clearwater/Belleair that is still operating. It has a great tour that shows the rails still under the hotel where the cars pulled in, a well restored resort!.

Don’t forget the many indian reservations with casinos.
