A couple of the best student cards that pay the best rewards are the Citi mtvU card (5% rewards in many categories) and the Citi Driver’s Edge for Students card. However those cards are good for very different spending profiles. The mtvU card is best for restaurant and entertainment spending. The Driver’s Edge for Students card is best for gas, grocery, and drug store spending.

To easily see which of the many student rewards cards will pay you the most for your spending profile, you can use this rewards calculator:

Note that this advice assumes that you’ll be funneling your normal spending through your credit card and paying off your balance in full every month. This is the best way to use credit cards since it’ll build your credit, avoid interest, and earn you rewards.

As the name suggests, a student credit card is specially designed for students and is very different from your regular credit card. Because it may be the first time for college students to apply for a credit card, most credit card companies designed their student credit cards to be a form of secured credit cards.

It will help a student to avoid accumulating high amounts of debt because of reckless spending. If you need groceries, or that recommended book but you don’t have the money for it, then it may be time for you to use your student credit card. It is good if you start learning good financial habits from your student life itself. Don’t use the card to pay for everything and anything. Use it judicially or it will land you in a debt to repay after the college finishes. Checkout a list of popupar student credit card list at: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/Student_Card.html

It depends on what you are looking for. Most likely you do not have credit established so you will be limited to the type of card you can get. I know Capital One usually gives cards out to people with little or no credit history.

Any card that requires you to pay it off every month, or a card that you have to “load” with the money up front. That way, you can’t get in over your head with it.
