What are some good ways for someone learning to start a budget?
Let me rephrase that. What are good ways for someone who is already a couple thousand dollars in debt to start budgeting? I need to learn how to go into student debt WISELY. I’ve already begun school, and am in debt to other non academic institutions about 2K. I’d like help to wisely pay off the BAD debt and go into student debt wisely.

Do you work? If so you need to calculate your income and your important expenses, i.e. tuition bills (if any), rent, utilities, a cell phone bill, anything that has to be paid so that you can live. Then look at how much you spend on clothes, starbucks, or anything unneccesary. Cut these expenses down. Instead of getting unlimited texting, try to use only 1000 and call people once your over. Or don’t stop at the quick mart and get a cup of coffee and a donut every morning. Pack your lunch, just do little things.
Try to save 10 % of your check. And always pay something on the 2k, even if you can only afford the minumum. Call the company to let them know your trying but you are a struggling student. Good luck!
