Single parent full-time student!!!! Homeless?
I have been in nursing school since the first of the year. My 3rd quartyer justt started today. I may have to quit and get a crapy full time job. I can’t get child-support from my childs lazy father. And I have applied for the things I know I can. But on the 7th of next month my landlord is filling for eviction. I just don’t know what to do, I have no family, or good enough friends to help. Please don’t tell me I have to stop school, or live in a shelter with my child. Is there not help out there for single parents trying to do better? If this helps any I am in Kentucky. Someone please help

Check with your City / County services. There is more aid than just food stamps.
I came to a small town in Texas after Katrina. And I was amazed by all the programs the city and county had to help me.
Yes I realize you aren’t in a hurricane, but most of the hurricane help came from the State.

I’m a law student and will have every student loan payed off to the last cent regardless of any “loan forgiveness” incentive. But I do see how this can benefit many other students. As a reminder, the majority of all student loans are completely paid off within a decade of time. I don’t have children (and probably don’t want any) but I have nieces & nephews and I can see how both bills will help thier parents AND THE ECONOMY at the same time. And every dollar that’s spent on anything contributes to the stability of the economy. Educate yourself on this! The bill is a great thing and it’s about time someone is strong enough to stand up for EVERYONE in this country rather than the usual thinking of: keep the pockets of the rich full and to hell with everyone else. ///

You do not have to quit school, but you might have to make some appointments to apply to get some help. Have you tried Workforce or the welfare office in your area? Some states do have an emergency fund. They can also provide child care assistance, food stamps, health insurance, and more. In addition, I recommend talking to the local housing authority in your area because they might have a program to assist you. All these agencies can be located in the blue pages of your local telephone book or by surfing the web by including your location and state with the agency’s name (examples are workforce, housing agency, etc.). In addition, you might want to try Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army because they have agencies or people to help in a crisis and provide assistance. Good luck!

To maybe help your for this month I would start calling churches in your area and ask for help with your rent. If you aren’t religious, this may be awkward for you, but I’m sure you’ll do what you need to for your baby and yourself. Have you been to your local DHS Office? Ask to speak with a worker and find out everything that would be of benefit for you to apply for. Did you apply for TANF? (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). If you have to, see if you can change your classes to part-time. So you can take at least 2-3 classes a week. I understand how hard it must be and I wish you the best of luck. Call your DHS office and ask them for as many numbers as possible to people who can help you. Even call the shelter’s, they have numbers that you can call. Good luck =(

hello, i am also in nursing school and I know how hard and stressful time for you. Well, I have seen something like this from other posts and they were talking about an act called Workforce Investment Act of 1998. As long as you apply and hand in your attendance sheet, you have full ride to school.

I’m sure there are better resources.
Some universities have emergency student loans ($200). I used is once, but they wanted it paid back in a month.
Maybe it would be a good time to take a break and secure your household.
