Financial aid help?

Say I was to take a 16 month school program. If I get Pell and State grants would I get one grant or do I get more after the traditional 12 months (year).

So what I’m trying to say is when I get my grants will that be for the whole 16 month program or can I qualify for more

?

Financial Aid is given on a semester basis. For ease it’s done by the year though. So…you receive 4 semesters of aid for a 2 year degree and 8 semesters for a 4 year degree. If you take a 16-18 month program you’ll end up using 3 semesters of aid so if you decided to go back to school in the future for a Bachelor degree you’d have 5 semesters of aid remaining.

The program, is it term (semester, quarter) or hours based? You Pell Grant is divided evenly. So, say the program is 3 quarters long…then your Pell will be divided evenly over the three quarters. If it’s an 1800 hour program, then you would get 1/2 your aid at the beginning of the program and the second 1/2 once you complete 900 hours. Check with the school to see how they disburse the aid.

keep in mind as well, that often times a specific school will recieve extra grants of one kind or another from different programs, for example, I went to Massage School and recieved a one time allotment for being a single parent, which I used toward the purchase of my table. there were several available, the recipients were chosen by someone in the financial aid department.
