question about being poor and paying for college?

i graduated high school a few years ago, however decided at that time not to go to college. now i am 21 in a few months and live on my own and have a very limited income. i am considering going to college once again. i was wondering due to my very low income if it would be possible to have my college expenses paid for by the government or some other organizaiton, or if i would have to take out loans and pay them back at a later date.

thanks

student loans. good luck with the debt.

As for what the gentlemen a few avatars below me said, he must have went to school eons ago.

You MAY be able to get a PELL grant, which means you don’t have to pay anything back. But, ha, good luck, it’s nearly impossible to get one thanks to our current president.

Yes, fill out a FAFSA form from your school’s financial aid office. But beware, student loan interest rates are NOT low. They are above 7% right now!!! For a government loan!! I couldn’t imagine how high the rates are for a private loan.

There are 2 types of loans – subsidized and unsubsidized. With one, you are paying interest while you are in school. With the other, the government is paying it for you. With all, it’s true you don’t have to pay anything back until you’ve been out of school for 6 months.

be VERY CAREFUL. only take out as little as you need.

You may be able to get grants or scholarships. Sometimes you may have to qualify as an independant student to get more money. Have you ever considered doing some part time work at home to help with the extra money you may need for books and fees? I have been doing well online for about 2 months. There are ways to make money for free and they are legit. It is a good way to pick up some extra money for things like school and debt. If you are interested, feel free to check out my blog. Good Luck!

There are special loans out there for low income families, I am thinking it is called a Pelt Grant. Do some research on this. The good thing about student loans are they do not kick in till six months after graduation, and you generally have a very low interest rate.

You should file the FAFSA, but bear in mind, that even if you have lived on your own for a few years and are 21, you may need to continue to provide your parent(s)’ income and asset information. You should contact the aid office at the college you plan to attend and discuss your situation with them, but in the vast majority of cases, you will need parent information.

humorous concern, yet for many the television appearances, she is going to the community associate and that they movie from there, by means of employing stay feed on a split demonstrate. The commute expenses are regardless of bus fare is and accommodations isn’t a controversy simply by fact that she does not depart city. If she does to an in-guy or woman visual appeal, the Washtington DC is a quick Amtrak experience from NYC. in the event that they do fly, flights are notably inexpensive simply by fact that there are such distinctive flight techniques and routes between the two cities. ultimately, whilst the shows won’t pay her money to seem, they could set up for commute and accommodations at their cost. For the idiots who declare she claimed to be 23, please lower back that up. She in no way pronounced this manner of concern.

I am poor too. sucks but that’s the reality in today’s global market. I go to a smaller college where prices aren’t too exhuberant. The gov’t pays it all. Financial aid covers all but about $200 of my tuition. That’s a Michigan education grant and a Pell grant. I then take out the max on student loans in order to make it. I have friends who have been out of school for 10 years and still don’t have to pay loans back. Do your research and homework. You can get it for free. After all, ******* get theirs free so why not the white man?

Start at the financial office at the college. They will start by applying for grants which are given by the government (no payback ever), then they will see if you might qualify for any scholars before applying for student loans which usually, you will finish school and begin your career before having to re-pay.

Yeah, I tried that. Since bush has been in office funds for schools have been slashed, leaving sky high tuition rates.

Although a single, independent student i couldn’t get ANYTHING other than loans. In the end it was just ridiculous amount of hassle and debt.
